Cutler Crew Demonstrates Repaver for Florida V.I.P.'s
The month of June proved to be a milestone month for Cutler Repaving when we
performed our first ever recycling project in South Florida for the City of Plantation,
and hosted an open house on the job that attracted 60 engineers from the surrounding
area.
The pavement chosen by the City of Plantation was North West 5th St, one of the
busiest streets in the city. As an arterial/collector, N.W. 5th St. serves as the
home to the Plantation City Hall, Police Station, Post Office, and Fire Station as
well as a host of professional offices.
The project consisted of recycling the top inch of the existing pavement and adding
a new one inch layer of S-3 as the wearing surface, producing a combined two inch
total thickness of recycled and new material.
On Wednesday, June 25, engineering personnel from the surrounding area gathered in
Liberty Tree Park, including engineers from Broward County, Palm Beach County, and
the Florida Dept of Transportation Districts 4 and 6. In addition, 12 cities sent
personnel to learn how recycling can be successfully incorporated into a pavement
preservation program.
We look forward to serving this area as more and more agencies recognize the value
of recycling their existing asphalt pavements.
